Junior Softball
At Carine Cats Softball Club, we believe sport should be more than just a game — it should be fun, inclusive, and the foundation for friendships that last a lifetime. Our Junior program offers a supportive and energetic environment where children can build skills, grow in confidence, and feel part of something bigger.
We welcome both boys and girls from primary school age up to 16 years old to be part of our Junior teams, which compete in the Perth Softball League (PSL) summer competition. Whether your child is transitioning from Teeball, giving softball a go for the first time, or already has a few seasons under their belt, our club offers a place for everyone to thrive.
Our focus is on development — not just as players, but as people. With a strong emphasis on learning and enjoyment, our coaches work closely with each child to build their skills, game awareness, and love for the sport. From understanding the rules and refining throwing and batting techniques, to learning how to work as a team and support each other on and off the field, softball teaches valuable lessons that go far beyond the diamond.
Junior training takes place in the afternoon after school either at Birralee Reserve or Carine Open Space, with games held at Mirrabooka Softball Complex. Under 14s typically play on Friday evenings at 5pm, while Under 16s games are usually scheduled for Saturday mornings at either 9am or 10:30am. Training sessions are designed to be engaging, with plenty of movement, encouragement, and fun, while also ensuring players are prepared and confident on game day.
As children progress, there are also opportunities for those aged 13 and over to begin experiencing senior softball, either by joining a designated team or filling in when needed. This allows our juniors to challenge themselves further and start building a pathway into the senior game.

We understand that joining a new sport can feel like a big step, so we aim to make things as easy as possible. The club provides team playing shirts and bats, and we’re happy to help new families with guidance on any additional gear their child might need, such as gloves or pants. We also welcome newcomers to attend a training session before signing up, giving them a chance to meet the team and see what we’re all about.
Most importantly, our Junior program is about connection with the friendships our children and young adults make at softball, some of the strongest and longest-lasting. There’s something special about the way team sport brings people together, and at Carine Cats Softball, we’re proud to create a space where young players feel supported, included, and inspired.
Whether your child is looking for a fun new activity, a chance to be part of a team, or a sport they can grow with for years to come, we’d love to welcome you to Carine Cats Softball.
